Dispute with Stebbing on the subject of heresy in several letters & vice versa. Between 1735 and 1737 the baptist James Foster was engaged in a dispute with the Anglican clergyman Henry Stebbing. This item comprises five of the six tracts exchanged between them. The tracts are: Henry Stebbing 'A letter to Mr Foster on the subject of heresy' (1735), James Foster 'An answer to Dr Stebbing's letter on the subject of heresy' (1735), Henry Stebbing 'A second letter to Mr Foster on the subject of heresy' (1735), James Foster 'An answer to Dr Stebbing's second letter on the subject of heresy' (1736), James Foster 'An answer to Dr Stebbing's true state of the controversy with Mr Foster on the subject of heresy' (1737) and Henry Stebbing 'A reply to Mr Foster's answer to the true state of the controversy on the subject of heresy' (1737).
