Overview

EBC Ordo 2026 does not ask for, collect, or share any personal information. There are no accounts or logins, and your settings stay on your device.

Like any app or website that loads content from the internet, all three versions (iOS, Android and web) make ordinary requests to our server, and the web and Android versions also request fonts from Google. These necessarily reveal your device's IP address to the servers involved. The section on Network Requests below sets out exactly which requests are made, and to whom.

Data Storage

The settings stored on your device are never sent anywhere.

iOS app: your choice of community, your display settings and, if you turn on reminders, the time you choose for them are stored in UserDefaults on your device. The app also keeps a copy of the community directory in its own storage, so that it works offline.

Web app (PWA) and Android app: the only setting stored is your choice of community, held in the browser's localStorage on your device. So that they can work offline, they also keep a copy of the app's own files and the calendar data in your device's cache storage, which is replaced when we publish an update.

None of this is accessible to us or any third party. It is removed if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

Reminders & Calendar (iOS)

If you turn on reminders, the iOS app schedules notifications on your device. They are created and delivered on the device itself, and nothing is sent to us.

If you use Export to Calendar, the iOS app asks for access to your calendar and adds a calendar called "EBC Ordo 2026" containing the liturgical days. It only reads and deletes events in that calendar, and nothing is sent to us. You can delete that calendar in your Calendar app, or withdraw the app's access in iOS Settings, at any time.

Analytics & Tracking

EBC Ordo 2026 contains no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking code. This applies to the iOS app, the Android app and the web application.

The one third-party service used by the web app and the Android app is Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces (see Network Requests below).

The download page for the apps is part of the Douai Abbey website, whose own data and cookie practices are covered by its Privacy Policy.

Network Requests

iOS app. The liturgical calendar is built into the app. The app also asks our server at douaiabbey.org.uk for the latest copy of the community directory file, and keeps a copy on your device for offline use. This request contains no personal information, device identifier, location or community choice: only the standard details that every web request carries, such as your IP address and the app and device type. It is the only network request the app makes itself. Links you tap, such as Support & Help, community websites and email addresses, open in Safari or Mail. The iOS app uses the system's own fonts.

Web app (PWA). It loads the calendar data and the list of communities from our server, and keeps a copy on your device so that it works offline.

Android app. A thin wrapper that opens the same web application at douaiabbey.org.uk/ordo/. It runs inside Chrome, whose own settings and privacy practices, which we do not control, also apply.

Fonts (web app and Android app only). These load two typefaces, Playfair Display and DM Sans, from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). As with any such request, this sends your device's IP address to Google.

Only if you tap them (web app and Android app): Export to Calendar downloads a calendar file from our website and opens Google Calendar; links to community websites, and to the Support and Privacy pages, open in your browser; and death-notification links open your email app.

No personal information is sent by any version in these requests. As with any request to a web server, our server keeps its usual web logs, for example the IP address, time and browser type.
