Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr

» On 30 October a group of twenty EBC monks and nuns came to participate in a leadership course led by Carol Vanstone. They were joined by Archabbot Jeremias Schroder of the German St Ottilien Benedictine Congregation and six of his monks.

» Two groups, from the Friends of Reading Abbey and from Reading Museum, were taken on guided tours of the monastery library on 29 and 31 October.

» The arrival of cold and truly autumnal weather has seen the resident community resume the wearing of cowls in the abbey church for the offices and Mass from 31 October.

» On All Souls, the abbot blessed the monastic graves in torrential rain and heavy wind.
