Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 26 April 2020
» Last Monday Fr Peter gave a presentation, including slides, to the resident community on his recent trip to India with some members of the Douai parish of Woolhampton. For the past three years the parish has supported the charity Reaching the Unreached in the Tamil Nadu region of India. On this occasion they were able to present for the opening of a new boys' hostel that had been funded by the parish. The charity undertakes a range of works with children and women in the region, encompassing youth hostels, self-help programmes for wmoen, and the provision of clean water and simple housing. While in India there Fr Pater and the parishioners visited Tamil Hindu temples and Benedictine communities at Shantivanam and Sivagangai.

» The Douai parish also streamed the Douai compline on Friday, which can be accessed through the parish website. In this season of Coronatide some of the brethren on the mission have been streaming some of their services, including Fr Paul at Our Lady & St Joseph's, Alcester using Youtube, and daily Mass by Fr Hugh at St Elizabeth's, Scarisbrick via the parish's Facebook page.
