» Last Sunday Fr Boniface returned to Ormskirk after spening some time here recuperating from a stroke. Later that day we heard that the PP in Ormskrik, Fr Godric, had a heart attack and had been hospitalized in Gateshead. All going well he will return to Ornskirk today. Please keep them both in your prayers.

» On Wedneday last week the year 6 pupils of Woolhampton Primary School visited the monastery and were given a tour and a talk by Fr Oliver. On Tuesday this week a large congregation of pupils and staff from various Thatcham schools spent a day at the monastery for their end of year service and picnic in our grounds.

» Last weekend Fr Abbot led a weekend course here at Douai on medieval church history, which included his taking the attendees to the ruins of Reading Abbey for the launch of Brian Kemp's new book, Records of Reading Abbey: a New Miscellany.

» For the past week a small group of deacons from Allen Hall have been on retreat here, led by Fr Luke Bell OSB of Quarr Abbey. They leave us today and the deacons will be ordained this Saturday in Westminster Cathedral. Ad multos annos!

» It was announced this week that Fr Oliver will living at Downside for a year from the end of this summer, and while there he will assist that community in various aspects of its programme for renewal.Fr Hugh will be replacing him as bursar.
