» For the first time since the lockdown first began in Spring last year our two cataloguers have been able to return to the library this past week to continue their valuable work.
» Other visitors in the past week have been a second group of ordinands from Allen Hall on their pre-ordination retreat. Ad mutlos annos!
» Also last week the Douai Magazine committee met via Zoom to continue with preparations for next year's Douai Magazine.
» On Saturday, Fr Abbot visited the restored gateway of Reading Abbey to see the recently carved head of Hugh Faringdon, Reading's last abbot, which has been fixed to the exterior. There were considerable festivities happening in the Forbury Gardens/abbey ruins precinct as part of the celebrations of the 900th anniversary of the founding of the abbey by King Henry I in 1121. This weekend also marks the first anniversary of the terrorist attack in Forbury Gardens.
» Also yesterday, Frs Godric, Boniface and Hugh attended as members the Liverpool archdiocesan synod, which had been postponed from last October due to Covid. Even so, it still had to be held via Zoom, quite a technical feat with over 400 members of the synod in attendance.
