» We are still preparing to install cameras in the abbey church for streaming some of our liturgy, but this delay is offset by better news. The abbey church will reopen for Sunday and weekday Masses from Sunday, 14 March. Below is a document containing essential details for those wishing to join the monastic community for Mass. If you plan to come to Mass here please read it first. The community looks forward greatly to welcoming people to join us in worship.
» On 4 March Fr Abbot led the rites for the burial of David Hugh Farmer at Whitchurch Hill. A longstanding and faithful parishioner at Pangbourne and friend of the community at Douai, he had also been an eminent church historian as Reader in History at the University of Reading, and had been editor of the famous Oxford Dictionary of Saints. May he rest in pace.
» In place of the usual residential retreat over the Sacred Triduum, a series of Triduum talks will be offered via Zoom. Places are limited to 100. Please read the document below for details of times and how to register.
» You probably have seen the new donation button on several pages on the website. Thanks to the free service offered by Dona, we can receive donations online through the clicking of this button. It also allows for Gift Aid to be added to your donation of you are a UK taxpayer. There are three options to choose for donations: general donations to the Monastery, or specific offerings for the Douai Magazine and the Pastoral Programme. The community is always grateful to those who give to us, and we hope this new facility will make the process of donating easier. All our benefactors are remembered in the prayers and Masses of the community.
