Limited Re-Opening of Abbey Church
» The Abbot and community at Douai Abbey are pleased to be able to welcome visitors again into the abbey church for private prayer from Sunday, 28 June.
Initially the abbey church will be open from 3 to 4pm on Sundays, with additional times possible as future circumstances permit.
In line with government and diocesan guidelines that both require social distancing and limit the number of surfaces with which visitors make contact, only the nave will be available for public use, and there will be no public access to toilets.
If you have received medical advice to shield, or if you or anyone in your household has Covid-like symptoms or those of cold or 'flu, you should remain at home and postpone visiting the church for now.
On entering the church by the main west door, please sanitise your hands and follow the directions of the safety marshals. Please depart via the side door near the Blessed Sacrament chapel, sanitising your hands again as you leave.
Children are welcome, but parents remain responsible for their supervision in the abbey churchs.
We look forward to welcoming you here again.
» As mentioned earlier this month, Fr Oliver has begun a project to design and build planter boxes for the area outside the library. The first is now in place, made entirely of recycled materials, not least old metal library shelves. For the enthusiastic, it may not be out of the question to sponsor a box!
