» On Monday 28 March, the beginning of the two-day celebration of Carnival, the community enjoyed a late morning, with Morning Office at 8am and Mass at midday. There were the traditional panckes the next day, Shrove Tuesday.

» The committee of the Douai Foundation, which helps international Benedictiine educational projects, met by Zoom on Shrove Tuesday.

» On Ash Wednesday the coventual Mass saw the use of the Roman method of imposing the ashes, out of prudence regarding Covid. This method sees the ashes sprinkled on the top of the head, not inscribed as a cross on the forehead.

» The first meeting of the recently-formed EBC incorporated parishes’ committee met by Zoom on 1 March and discussed future policy. Its members are Abbot Geoffrey, Fr  Richard Simons of Belmont, and Fr Hugh, who acts as secretary,
