Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 26 July 2016
» The recent run of dry, warm and sunny weather has meant that the grouds are looking lovely at the moment. On the downside, it is muggy, buggy and and a tad uncomfortable in our habits. Many of us are suffering hayfever.

» This morning Fr Abbot and Fr Alban left for Cambridge for a meeting of the Catholic Records Society, at which Fr Alban will be giving a paper.

» As of last Sunday, our sturdy altar candlesticks returned to use in the abbey church after replating. Their return was delayed by a few weeks due to chemical bleeding after the replating process. The bleeding has still not quite finished, but it is now not so bad as to prevent the candlesticks' use. They date from 1935, were designed by Thomas Derrick and cast by Fr Anthony Barron OSB, presumably in our school's workshops.

» From our parish in Ormskirk we hear that the parish church was a prominent feature in a Heritage Day in the town, with extra signage put up to help first-time visitors to the church.
