Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 7 November 2015
» Yesterday we were pleased to welcome Bishop Philip Egan of Portsmouth, our local bishop, to Vespers  and to supper. It was a low-key and fraternal visit, and his visit was much appreciated by us.

» Today the new statue of St Edmund, crafted by Peter Eugene Ball, was installed by the artist and his trusty assistant, Des, with stonemason Ross Lovett working on the plinth. It is now firmly in place in its home in the abbey church. It will be solemnly blessed by Cardinal Nichols after Pontifical Vespers on 20 November. Until then no photos of it will appear here. However, Peter Eugene Ball's fine tuning did cause some sparks to fly, and that we can share for now.
