THE HOLY ANGELS (BLESSED SACRAMENT) CHAPEL

H.Angels north window
H.Angels east window These windows, by Hardman of Birmingham, are in the Holy Angels Chapel to the north of the chancel, which now is also the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The east window shows a guardian angel protecting a pilgrim on his journey. The pilgrim wears the scollop shell which those going to the shrine of St James at Compestella wore. The small window, on the right, is in the north wall and depicts St Joseph.

THE LADY CHAPEL

The east window, also by
Hardman of Birmingham,
depicts the Annunciation of Our Lady.
The Holy Spirit is seen in the small light at the top.
This window was installed
in 1950 to commemorate
the Marian Year. of Mary which was defined
by Pope Pius XII in that year.
This window by David John
was put in in 1986
to commemorate the Marian Year
which Pope John Paul II
proclaimed that year.
At that time the Lady Chapel was restored.
The window depicts Mary
in the Berkshire countryside.
