Former School Buildings - Part 2



ark Conditions were rather cramped when the two schools were combined, and the monastic community was also resident, so that various additions were put on to the buildings during the next few years. The biggest building project came in 1914-5, when the architectural firm of Pugin Powell was commissioned to erect in the neo-Gothic style the monastery building left which became a school residence after 1968 and the cloister, refectory and dormitory below.

1936 wing The next major building project came in 1936, when the classroom, library, common room and dormitory block on the left and the music and theatre block on the right were built, to the design of J.D. Kendall. Between them can be seen the Abbey Church.

Ditcham 1 The most recent building, Ditcham House, was put up to house the Junior School in 1978. These, together with the music and theatre block, were demolished in 2005. Ditcham 2
