Workshop: HOW GOD HEALS (& HOW WE CAN HELP)

Dr Nancy Reeves

Saturday September 25 2010. 09.45 - 17.00

A loss is any experience which restricts us, from the concrete (bereavement and chronic illness) to the nebulous (shattering of a dream). Our God longs for each of us to experience the healing we need. In this workshop Dr Nancy Reeves will present ideas and helping tools that show how God offers us healing, and how we can respond to this divine offer. This day is appropriate for professional and lay helpers, as well as for grieving people. The two groups will be separated for experiential exercises. For example, while Nancy presents material specifically for helpers, the grieving participants will do reflective activities.
Topics include:
  • How spiritual needs change the grieving process.
  • Three part process to work through guilt.
  • Helping people to forgive.
  • Ritual as a psychotherpeutic tool.
  • Spiritual issues and helping strategies.
  • A process to determine readiness to make a major change after a loss.

Dr Nancy Reeves, from Canada, is a clinical psychologist, spiritual director, author and poet. She has specialised in trauma, grief, loss and spiritual transformation for over thirty years. She is adjunct faculty at the University of Victoria and Santa Clara Unviersity and presents in eight contries. She is known for her livley presentation style, touching stories and practical information. Her books are available in Douai Abbey bookshop.

Lunch will be provided.
