Quidquid agunt homines Duacenses

Fr Wilfrid Sollom OSB Headmaster of Douai School 1975-87
IT is only fitting that a large part of this number of The Douai Magazine be given to an appreciation of Fr Wilfrid whose contribution to Douai is immense and whose not unexpected but sudden death was a tremendous loss to the community.
Centenary Year
THE celebration of our centenary at Woolhampton is now about two thirds over. There remain three important public events at Douai Abbey.
- On Easter Tuesday, April 13 at 8pm, Mr John Trigg, author of the illustrated histories of Woolhampton, will give a lecture on Woolhampton in 1903.
- On Easter Friday, April 16 also at 8pm, Fr Edmund Power OSB will give a lecture entitled Are you hastening to your heavenly home? ... Monks in flux.
- A charity Flower Festival will be held in the Abbey Church from Friday April 30 till Monday May 3. If you can come to all or any of these events you will be most welcome. In addition, during Easter week the English Benedictine History Commission will meet at Douai, to be followed by the Liturgy/Theology Commission.
