Editorial
THIS year we celebrate our centenary at Woolhampton. The main event will be the Mass on Saturday June 21 at which Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor will preside and the Abbot Primate Notker Wolf will preach. A History of Douai will be published, and a CD of music sung by a schola of monks and by the Douai Abbey Singers will be released. Our major article is a talk Sir David Goodall gave to the community in January on the relevance of monastic life today, which is particularly opportune as we begin our second century in England. Then we take a look at the past hundred years from the perspective of The Douai Magazine. We reproduce some of the sketches by Fr Aloysius Bloor OSB which were used as illustrations in the magazine during the twenties and thirties. On the right is his drawing of the main entrance which was our frontispiece from 1925 to 1984.‡
