Building the New Library 2


May 19 - 20.
The plinth outside the north door of the Abbey Church has been cut away to allow the new connecting cloister to be built.
Foundations for the cloister link to the north door of the Abbey Church.
The base for the main building has been flattened.
Internal drains are in position.
Drainpipes laid along the north wall of the library.
A trench has been dug along the west side,
of the library for drain pipes to be installed.


May 29 End of week 5
The foundations are now complete and shuttering is in place for the concrete base.

The metal work ready to receive concrete
for the floor of the cloister link.

Bricklaying of the outer walls has commenced.

June 24 Mid-Summers Day. The walls continue to grow aided by good weather.
