» This coming Sunday, the 4th (Laetare) Sunday of Lent, the conventual Mass will have the benefit of a visiting choir. The St Anselm College Choir. St Anselm College is a Benedctine liberal arts college in New Hampshire, USA. Founded in 1889, it is a work of St Anselm's Abbey in Manchester, New Hampshire. Its choir is currently on tour in England, singing at such places as Westminster Abbey and Canterbury Cathedral, as well as in Oxford, Cambridge and elsewhere. We look forward to welcoming them and their enhancement of the beauty of our worship in the abbey church. They had intended to be with us last Sunday but Storm Emma's fight with the Beast from the East meant their flight was cancelled.

» In the past week the abbot has been in London for meetings of the Jacobite Studies Trust and the Patrimony Committee of the bishops' conference. On Tuesday past Fr Hugh attended the launch of Signs of Life, a new initiative of the Church in England and Wales which seeks to support and resource discplemakers to further the work of evangelisation. The keynote speaker was Fr Thomas Joseph White OP, an American Dominican theologian, who spoke of the opportuities for evangelisation in contemporary English society.

» The times for the Triduum services have been finalised, and we invite you to as many of them as you can manage:

At the Music and Reflections on Good Friday evening, the Douai Abbey Singers will sing music by Haydn, Monteverdi, Tallis, Perosi and Mawby, interspersed with short reflection by some of the monks. It will be held in the abbey church.
