Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr

» Today is the solemnity of St Edmund, King, Virgin and Martyr and patron of Douai Abbey. The normal festivities were celebrated. Joining the resident brethren for the festal lunch after pontifical Mass were the Abbot President, Fr Wulstan of Ampleforth, and Bishop Alan Hopes of East Anglia, St Edmund's own kingdom, Also at lunch was Bishop Philip Egan of Portsmouth with a group of theologian friends. Happy Feast!
