Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 29 July 2018
» Last Wednesday Fr Finbar represented the community at the funeral of Neil Murphy, an Old Dowegian, at Sacred Heart church, Wimbledon. He had died, aged only 57, after some years of disability. May he rest in peace.

» Pablo Cassado, another old boy, from the mid-1990s, was last week elected leader of the People's Party in Spain, replacing former prime minister Mariano Rajoy. He is now himself a potential prime minister. His Catholic faith seems to inform many of his policy stances. May he prosper!

» Frs Godric and Boniface cointinue their recovery. This weekend Fr Alban is covering the Masses in Ormskirk.

» In a week's time the community will enter its consitutional summer holiday period, which will last till the community retreat at the end of August. The guesthouse will be closed and it may be a little more diificult to get in touch quickly with some of the monks. The webmaster will be away for 2 weeks from tonight so the website's news page will itself have a little holiday in that period. With today's wind and rain the heatwave has broken and our gardens and lawns are receiving much needed water and respite. We have been praying here for those who have been suffering from the heatwave.
