A Visit & a Funeral

Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 29 May 2018
» On Tuesday last week a number of the brethren accepted an invitation to celebrate Mass at the new chapel of Culham Court, on the Thames. With Fr Abbot for the occasion were Fr Alban, Fr Oliver, Fr Hugh and Br Christopher, while missioners Frs Godric (already at Douai leading the retreat for the Cardiff clergy) and Alexander joined us as well. At Mass were several visitors as well as our host, Urs Schwarzenbach and his daughter Sascha, and a good number of the estate's staff. After the Mass we enjoyed a light lunch in a cabin on the banks of the Thames. The occasion was made even more pleasurable by the gorgeous summery weather that day.

» Early tomorrow Fr Abbot will leave to travel up north for the funeral of Abbot Timothy Wright at Ampleforth, who died recently after a battle with cancer. May he rest in peace. Abbot Geoffrey will return via our parish at Studley where the Douai Abbey parishes' trust meets on Thursday.
