Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 25 November 2018
» Last Tuesday the community celebrated the feast of its havenly patron, St Edmund, as always with pontifical Mass and vespers, and a festal lunch. It was a quiet occasion otherwise with only a handful of guests joining us.

» The Thursday before Fr Boniface, on a week's visit here, had a fall in the abbey church and fractured his right humerus. So his brief sojourn is turning a little longer as he remains here to heal and recuperate. He is healing well and at this rate he will be back at Ormskirk by Christmas. Please keep him, and Fr Godric holding the fort alone at Ormskirk and Scarisbrick, in your prayers.

» Last Wednesday Fr Peter travelled up for the funeral of Dom Aldhelm Cameron-Brown, abbot emeritus of Prinknash near Gloucester. Abbot Aldhelm had been an important man for his congregation n England and Fr Peter had worked with him in the past on interfaith matters. May he rest in peace.

» On Sunday 16 December the abbey church will host our annual service of Advent music and reflections, with music provided by the Douai Abbey Singers and reflections from members of the community. It will begin at 3.30pm and all are most welcome to attend. It is, of course, free to attend though there will be a retiring collection for those who feel able to contribute.
