Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 22 February 2016
» Last Friday night Fr Abbot returned from Toulouse where his research into books formerly in our monastic library in Paris, and now in the possession of the university, proved successful. So efficient were the staff at the university linrary thathe time enough to visit Albi and its magnificent medieavl cathedral.

» This morning the entire monastic community of Douai, except for the Roman brethren Frs Edmund and Paul, gathered at the monastery for the annual conventual chapter. After lunch and with the chapter concluded, the brethren began a series of meetings which will last until Wednesday afternoon. They are centred on the future of the monastery, and are part of a process being undertaken by the whole English Benedictine Congregation. Tomorrow we will have some input from the Assessor of the EBC, Fr Luke Beckett OSB of Ampleforth.
